Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Below are a few of the questions that are regularly asked. If you cannot find an answer here, then please just give us a call 01858 450321.
What are your opening hours?
We are open Monday to Friday 9:00 until at least 5:30. Very often we’re still at the workshop past 5:30 and are happy to see customers in the evening. If that’s more convenient for you please ring to arrange.
Are you open on Saturdays?
Sorry, we’re not open on Saturdays (as we’re not a retail shop).
If you’d like to see us out of normal hours we are very happy to meet customers in the evening. Please just give us a call to arrange.
What is parking like?
Our workshop is located on a small commercial estate with loads of free parking right outside our door!
How long will it take to get my picture framed?
We aim for a 2 week turnaround, although this can extend to 3 weeks during busy spells. BUT, we can complete it quicker if you have a deadline.
With over 5,000 frame styles to choose from we cannot hold them all in stock and ordinarily the materials for all bespoke orders arrive with us a week after we order. However, we do hold a range of stock at our workshop or we can get a special overnight delivery from our supplier.
So if you’ve left it all too late, then fear not, we’ll always try and meet a genuine deadline!
Can you give me price an idea of price for framing?
We normally get this question over the phone or via email. The price varies massively depending on the style of frame chosen and all the other options – and as such the question is virtually impossible to answer without seeing the piece and discussing options. But, as a very basic guide, bespoke frame prices start from about £40.
Will my item be sent away to be framed?
No. Nothing leaves our workshop. We do not subcontract to anyone else and all our frames are made by us in the workshop.
Do you supply ready-made frames?
The short answer is yes. Our main business is bespoke framing, but we do stock just a small range of quality ready-made frames.
I have broken the glass on my frame. Do you cut glass?
Yes, we can cut glass to any size. We recommend that you bring the frame in so that we can guarantee the glass size is correct.
If you are happy to refit the glass yourself, then we can normally cut the piece while you wait. If you’d like us to fit it then we would need a little more time.
Can you re-frame a loose canvas?
Mostly yes. We quite often get this question from customers who have ordered a canvas print via the internet or have returned from holiday with a rolled canvas.
We can re-stretch them so long as enough ‘spare’ fabric was left on the edges for us to wrap, tension and staple (which is not always the case!). Please give us a call or email to discuss.
Will my frame be ready to hang?
Yes, we will always supply your frame with the appropriate hanging fittings.
Can you copy a piece of art and make me a print?
Yes, we offer a full art copying and giclée printing service. However, you must hold the copyright for the piece to be copied. If it is your own work then obviously there is no issue. If it is work from another artist the law requires us to have proof of consent before we can make any copies.
Can you copy and make prints from a photograph?
Yes, we can copy and reprint photographs, but you must hold the copyright for the photograph. If it is your own photography or old family photographs then there is no problem.
We cannot produce copies from official school photos, professional wedding photographs or commercial studio shots as these are normally under the copyright of the photographer.
